He holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Seville, Master of Environmental Engineering Management from the School of Industrial Organization (EOI), and a diploma in Advanced Management Program (AMP) from the IESE Business School, University of Navarra.

He began his professional career in 1982 with the Explosivos Rio Tinto Company. He joined Atlantic Copper in 1984. His responsibilities have grown ever since joining the company.  He managed the operations of the Huelva Metallurgical Complex and in recent years was responsible for Freeport’s downstream operations in North America.

He is currently Senior Vice President of Business Development at Atlantic Copper and, since September 2024, Vice President of Freeport-McMoRan Smelting and Refinering.
