Macarena Gutiérrez holds a degree in Business Administration from Villanueva University in Madrid and a Master’s in Business Management from IESE Business School.* *In 1993, she began her professional career at Arthur Andersen (Deloitte) in Madrid, where she worked primarily on auditing projects for companies in the industrial and service sectors.
In April 2025, she has been appointed as CEO of Atlantic Copper, a subsidiary company of the American mining group Freeport-McMoRan, where she started in 1997 as a controller and has taken on responsibilities until becoming the company’s Chief Financial Officer and General Director sin 2022, also overseeing the areas of Organization & Human Resources, Communication, ESG, IT, Legal, and Internal Audit. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Atlantic Copper Foundation and Vice President.
Since 2022, she has been an Independent Director of DKV Seguros and Chair of the Appointments and Remuneration Committee. In 2023, she joined the Board of Trustees of the DKV Integralia Foundation.
She is a member of the board of directors of the Spanish Institute of Analysts in Andalusia and has been a member of the Communication Committees of several European Associations such as Eurometaux (European Non-Ferrous Metals Association) and ECI (European Copper Institute), part of ICA (International Copper Association). She was a member of the Executive Committee of the Elcano Royal Institute for 15 years.
