Huelva, June 14, 2025. Atlantic Copper is banking on Dual Professional Training and young talent to add personnel to its staff. In fact, the Dual FP vocational training program has become consolidated as the main path to job placement in the company, with very high hiring rates after the training period. This is particularly true for Industrial Chemistry and Industrial Mechatronics students, with percentages reaching 88% and 90%, respectively, since 2017. That’s the year when the company began to collaborate with schools offering this type of training.
More than 70 students from universities, training courses and Dual FP vocational training did an internship this school year in different areas of the company, experiencing a real industrial environment that allows them to apply their knowledge from day one and prepare for their professional future. At this point in the academic year, 66% of them have already finished their internships at Atlantic Copper.
Of these, about 20% have joined the company, especially in areas such as the Chemical Group, Operations, Maintenance and Administration, which demonstrates the potential of these internships as a way to access employment. “At Atlantic Copper we believe that training is the key to incorporating qualified talent adapted to the industrial environment. The sector’s future in Huelva rests with young people, and supporting their development from the early stages also shows our faith in employment and the growth of our environment,” said Sebastián Prieto, the company’s head of Talent Management.
Workforce training, essential for driving innovation
In addition to its commitment to young talent, Atlantic Copper supports the ongoing training of its workforce, which consists of more than 760 people. The company gave 52,484 hours of training in 2024 alone; more than 67% was focused on technical specialization. In addition, there were more than 25,000 hours dedicated to the prevention of occupational risks in 2023 and 2024, reflecting the safety culture characteristic of the organization.
Atlantic Copper has thus consolidated itself as a key actor in Huelva’s economic development, representing 17% of the employment created in the province’s chemical hub and generating a gross added value of more than 220 million euros, becoming one of Andalusia’s major economic drivers.
